The zoo's address and where it sits on the island
Bali Zoo gives its address as Jl. Raya Singapadu, Singapadu, Sukawati district, Gianyar Regency, Bali 80582.1 Wikipedia places it at 8.59056 degrees south and 115.26556 degrees east.6 Put the village name Singapadu into your map app along with the zoo name, so that the pin lands on Jalan Raya Singapadu and not on some other place with a similar name. Saving the address in two forms, the name of the zoo and the road, gives your driver a fallback if one of them is not recognized. The Bali Zoo location in Singapadu, Gianyar sits on Jl. Raya Singapadu in the Sukawati district.7
On the island map the zoo lies in the south-central part of Bali, north of Denpasar and south of Ubud. That position makes it the rare big attraction that can be reached comfortably from both the beach resorts and from Ubud, without a long cross-island drive. How the road distances in this guide were measured
The kilometer figures on this page come from OSRM, a routing engine that runs on OpenStreetMap data, set to the driving profile.3 Each figure measures from a single point in the named area, such as the Ubud Palace for Ubud, to the zoo's coordinates. Your hotel will be somewhere nearby, not exactly there, so expect a few kilometers either way. If your hotel sits at the far end of its area, add the difference yourself.
The engine also prints a free-flow time, but that assumes empty roads. Indonesia.Travel warns that Seminyak sits in the main west-coast conurbation of south Bali and that its roads can clog badly at certain hours.12 For that reason the table lists the distance as the firm number and the engine minutes as a floor, not a promise. A driver's own estimate on the morning may be longer than the number printed here.
Where an official tourism page gives a drive time for the same area it is quoted instead, and the two are labeled apart. The official figures are sparse: they cover the airport side and the south coast, not the road to Singapadu itself, which is why this site measured the missing legs. Where this guide has no official source for a leg, it says so and leaves the engine's number as the only one.

Sanur is the nearest of the coastal areas measured here: about 13.9 km by road on the routing engine.3 Indonesia.Travel describes Sanur Beach as east of Denpasar, about 15 km from Ngurah Rai International Airport, and says the airport trip by taxi or online transport takes around 30 to 45 minutes depending on traffic.16 That is a statement about the airport, not the zoo, but it shows how traffic stretches the clock even over short distances. The Sanur to Bali Zoo drive time is the first figure to check in the table before you choose a start time.3
From the airport itself the zoo is about 26.7 km by road on the same engine.13 If you land in the morning and want an easy first day, a zoo visit is one of the activities that does not need a long transfer from the terminal. Keep in mind that the routing minutes are a free-flow estimate, so build in extra time on arrival day. A prebooked driver is easier than looking for a taxi at the terminal when you arrive tired.

Coming from Ubud: the shortest hop on the map
Ubud is the closest of the popular bases: about 12.0 km by road from the Ubud Palace to the zoo.2 Indonesia.Travel places Ubud in the central part of Bali and notes that you can choose lodging near the middle of town for the action or off the center among greenery.20 Either way the zoo is a morning out, not a day trip with a long ride each way. For travelers who plan a few days in Ubud, that distance makes the zoo one of the easier day outings from the town.
Ubud hotels are collected at 07:00 on the breakfast listing, the same time as Sanur. Singapadu belongs to Sukawati district.6 The Sukawati Art Market is a separate stop about 4.1 km from the zoo by road, so tell your driver which of the two you mean.18 Ask reception where exactly you should wait, and be ready in the lobby a few minutes before the slot so the vehicle is not held up. Coming from Seminyak, Kuta, Jimbaran and Nusa Dua
The south coast is the longest drive of the lot, and the figures show it clearly. Seminyak is about 22.3 km, Kuta about 23.5 km, and Jimbaran and Nusa Dua each about 32.1 km by road from the zoo on the routing engine.5,4,15,14 Add the pick-up slot and you can see why the early start exists. Indonesia.Travel puts Jimbaran 15 minutes by road south of the airport, and about the same from Legian, Seminyak and Sanur by the toll road.21
For Nusa Dua the tourism site gives about 40 km south of Denpasar and says access is easy from Kuta in 20 to 30 minutes and from Jimbaran in 15.22 Those are the numbers of the south-coast corridor, not of the road north to Singapadu. Those are the numbers of the enclave's own access roads. If you stay there, plan the earliest start of the three options and confirm your pick-up point with the hotel the day before.

That is thirty minutes ahead of Sanur and Ubud, and the south is the farther side in the table.
