Breakfast beside orangutans sounds like a single product, but the Bali Zoo version and the Singapore Zoo version are separate programs run by separate organizations, each with its own hours, prices and rules. Bali Zoo says its launch was the first experience of its kind in Indonesia.8
Singapore's program is called Breakfast in the Wild and is served at Ah Meng Restaurant (Terrace) inside Singapore Zoo.3 The two programs share the premise, a meal with apes in view, and little else, so choosing between them is mostly a matter of where you will be rather than which is better. A traveler who can reach only one of the two places has no decision to make, and one who is routing a trip through both countries can compare the details below before deciding where to spend the morning.
This guide sets the facts of each side by side, using each zoo's own pages and the booking platform's listing for Bali. Where a figure is missing on one side, it says so rather than guess, because a comparison is only as honest as the gaps it admits.

At Bali Zoo the orangutan breakfast runs from 08:00 to 10:00, and the last check-in is at 08:30.1,2 The zoo lists the whole package at about 5 hours, because the admission ticket is included and the rest of the morning is yours inside the zoo.1,4
Inclusions are a full breakfast, the Jungle Encounter, animal and bird presentations, the Jungle Splash water play area and insurance.4 The listing on the booking platform adds optional hotel pickup, at 06:30 from Jimbaran, Kuta, Seminyak and Nusa Dua and at 07:00 from Sanur and Ubud.
After the meal the listing schedules the zoo and its animal shows between 10:00 and 12:00, with the return transfer at 14:00. Guides speak English and Indonesian, and the listing is rated 4.56 from 1,032 reviews.

Singapore's Breakfast in the Wild runs every day from 9:00am to 10:30am, and the animal appearance is scheduled from 9:15am to 10:00am.3 The venue, Ah Meng Terrace, can accommodate up to 200 guests and sits a 10 to 15-minute walk from the zoo's main entrance.9
That walk matters on a tight morning: a guest who arrives at the entrance at the opening of the breakfast still has to cross the park. Seating is assigned on arrival by the venue's team, and the zoo says it is first-come, first-served.9
The menu has no pork or lard, vegetarian options are available, and the kitchen leaves beef off the menu because of its environmental impact.11,12 Flash photography is not allowed, for the wellbeing of the animals.13
Three Bali versions

Breakfast
Breakfast, then the zoo

With elephants
A long zoo day

With beach club
Zoo, then the coast
The Bali breakfast starts from $43 on the booking platform, and the zoo's package includes the admission ticket, so that figure covers the meal and the visit.4 It is a from-price, so the option you choose can lift it.
Singapore's official price is S$47 for an adult and S$37 for a child aged 6 to 12, in Singapore dollars as the zoo prints them.3 That price excludes park admission, and the zoo states that a separate admission ticket is required.5 The two numbers are therefore not like for like.
Children aged 0 to 5 eat free at Singapore, with 1 free child for every paying adult.10 The Bali pages we checked give no age-based breakfast price, so a family should read the child terms of the option it books before comparing totals.

Neither side promises a particular animal on a particular morning. Singapore says its wildlife ambassadors, a group that includes orangutans, birds, reptiles and a sealion, are not fixed and are subject to rotation, weather and animal conditions.6
Bali Zoo makes a similar point on its package page: the photo may not represent the real experience, because the behavior of the orangutans and the surroundings influence the encounter.7 The Bali listing adds that interactions are guided and supervised by trained zoo staff, with direct contact only under professional handlers.
Product wording varies inside Bali, too. A combined listing says the orangutans are observed from a designated viewing area and that direct contact and feeding are not permitted, while the beach club combination says they are watched from the dining area. Read the exact product you book.

Prior to choosing
The IUCN Red List moved the Bornean orangutan from Endangered to Critically Endangered, the highest risk category assigned by the list.14 Whatever zoo you pick, the animals at the table belong to a species in serious trouble in the wild.
A good breakfast program uses that fact as a reason for rules, not for a closer selfie. Follow the staff's instructions, keep food away from the animals unless the keeper hands it over, and do not treat a handler's permission as an invitation to touch.
If a program lets you hold or touch an ape, you are free to decline. The calm, observed version is the one both zoos describe most often, and it tends to give better photographs because the animals behave naturally. Patience pays at a table with apes in view: the best moments are rarely the staged ones, and a long lens or a steady phone beats a rush to the front.
Singapore asks that you book at least 1 day ahead, before 3:00pm on the day before, and its breakfast tickets are non-refundable, non-exchangeable and valid only on the selected visit date.5,10
At Bali Zoo the package page also calls the ticket non-refundable.7 The listing on the booking platform shows a different term for reservations made through it: free cancellation up to 24 hours before, with reserve now and pay later.
The pattern is the same on both sides of the border: read the cancellation line of the page you pay on, not of the page next to it, and keep a screenshot of the terms in case a plan changes. That habit costs a minute and settles most disputes before they start.
If you are already in Singapore, Breakfast in the Wild is the obvious choice, and booking by 3:00pm the day before is the one deadline to remember.5 If you are in Bali, the question is moot, since only one of these programs is within reach.
If you can choose the destination first, think about the day around the meal. Bali's package includes admission and optional pickup from the south and from Ubud, so the breakfast turns into a half-day with the zoo, while Singapore's is a shorter meal with admission bought on top.5
Families with children under 6 may like Singapore's free places for small guests, and visitors who want a lie-in may prefer its later start.10,3 Visitors who want hotel pickup and a bundled price will lean to Bali.
